Fusion Middleware is released

Yesterday the new version of Fusion Middleware was released. Thomas Kurian and a group of senior Oracle people talked about the new version, showed some demos and included customers for some testimonials.

The software is already available for download at http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/middleware/htdocs/111110_fmw.html

I have downloaded almost everything already and will start to install this piece by piece on my machine. I am particularly interested in the IDM Analytics and the new features of the Web Center Suite. Also the integration of the Oracle Service Bus with BPEL and their management inside the Enterprise Manager seem to be more than worthwhile to investigate.

Different silent install files WLS 10.3.2 and 10.3.3

Today I tried to cut some corners and use a silent.xml file for WLS 10.3.3 for a silent installation of 10.3.2. Oracle Fusion Middleware Forum in Valencia

Last week the 22nd Fusion Middleware and PaaS Partner Community Forum took place in Valencia, Spain. For me this was a very valuable experience - again as I have visited a number of #ofmForum before. Let me recap here the highlights of this meeting. After a great Welcome-Reception the evening before, where everybody had the chance to catch up with a large number of old (and soon-to-be new) friends, the conference started with a kind of the state of the union by Jürgen Kress. The community already has more than 8000 people. This - in a fact - is a tremendous achievement. Everybody agrees that this is only possible by the relentless work of Jürgen who puts a big effort into this. It shows that other areas inside the Oracle technology stack do not benefit by equivalent communities. Even other communities, when they exist at all, do not compete in the same league. Unpacking Oracle cpio for AIX

When extracting a cpio file with Oracle software from OTN on AIX you might encounter the following problem: oracle@mymachine-app:/install/oracle/MRCA>cpio -idmv cpio: 0511-903 Out of phase! cpio attempting to continue... cpio: 0511-904 skipping 642010 bytes to get back in phase! One or more files lost and the previous file is possibly corrupt! Segmentation fault The solution is to use the option -idcmv oracle@mymachine-app:/install/oracle/MRCA>cpio -idcmv c Reads and writes header information in ASCII character form. If a cpio archive was created using the c flag, it must be extracted with c flag.
